Seven simple steps to begin eating the way He designed

Download the printable version (PDF)

Eleven pages. Made to be read a step at a time rather than all at once.

Seven steps, in the order we’d actually give them to somebody starting on Monday.

You will probably find you are already living two or three of them. That is the normal starting position, not a head start — almost nobody arrives here at zero.

Take one. Leave the other six alone until the first one has stopped taking effort. That is not us being gentle with you; it is the only version of this that has ever held for thirty years.

The seven steps

  • 1Know what your body is actually hungry for — full and nourished are not the same condition. It is entirely possible to eat three meals a day and still be short of what the cells were asking for.
  • 2One green juice, before anything else — fresh, or a serving of barley and alfalfa grass juice powder in water. Of everything on this list, this is the habit that survives when the rest of a person’s routine falls apart.
  • 3Build the plate around living food — the direction is roughly eighty-five percent raw with cooked plant food supporting it. A direction, not a law — nobody should be counting.
  • 4“Replace Before You Eliminate” — add first and let the old things loosen their own grip. Start with a list of what you are giving up and the ending is already written.
  • 5Know the honest gaps — B12 is the clear one; vitamin D catches most people regardless of how they eat. Both are easy to test. Find out rather than guess.
  • 6More water than you feel you need — half your body weight in ounces is a fair target. It is the first thing to slip in a busy week and the cheapest thing to fix.
  • 7Stewardship, not perfection — this is the one that decides whether the other six last. A faithful steward is not somebody who never falls short. It is somebody who keeps showing up.

How to actually use this

One step, not seven

Read it through once, then go back and pick the single step you would genuinely do this week. The list is not a checklist and there is no schedule attached to it.

Start where you already are

Two or three of these are probably already true of you. Count them. Beginning from three is a different feeling than beginning from nothing, and it happens to be the accurate one.

Add before you subtract

Step four is the one that carries the others. Nobody sustains a way of eating they experience as a loss, and there is no amount of resolve that changes that.

Nothing here needs to be bought

Two steps mention a product because they honestly involve one. The other five cost nothing, and the five are the foundation.

On the two steps that mention a supplement. Step two suggests a grass juice powder as the practical on-ramp when fresh juicing is not happening yet, and step five names B12 and vitamin D as real gaps. Both are tools. Neither is the foundation, and if you did the other five and none of this, you would still be most of the way there.

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

Genesis 1:29

That is a provision statement rather than a rule. The food came first, and it came on purpose, for a body built to run on it. Everything in these seven steps is an attempt to arrange an ordinary week so that a person actually eats it.

Blessings,
Paul & Ann
