The smoothie recipe appearing in last week's Health Tip inspired Pamela to combine raw fruit and vegetable recipes to create this raw recipe: "I just read Chris' recipe for life in Health Tip #465. I do the same thing, but add blueberries and ground flaxseed to it as well. I add as little water as possible, as I like it thick . . . almost like ice cream. Adding pears makes it very sweet and yummy, too."
Greens (especially spinach & kale) are among the most nutritious foods we can eat. Sadly, some people not following a raw food diet find it difficult to eat a lot of greens. Perhaps this very simple recipe, sent in by Chris for a banana/spinach smoothie, will help many increase their consumption of greens:
"Take a handful of greens and place them in a blender with a couple of ripe bananas. Add sufficient amount of distilled water to the blender and blend into a thin or thick smoothie (your choice). This smoothie tastes great! – tastes a lot like banana – yet you are getting your greens in a good tasting way."
*ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ARE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED.
