Over the past several months, we have shared the information about the most basic and important supplements most people need to add to their diet according to our most recent research. These are the primary ones that address nutrients that are missing or in short supply in most diets, even when a person is doing the best they can to eat well.
We started with a discussion of the importance of Vitamin B12, a vitamin not found in any plant sourced food consumed by vegetarians and vegans, and interestingly not found in sufficient amounts in 39% of those who consume animal sourced foods even on a daily basis.
Next we discussed the importance of omega 3, the “good fat” that needs to be in everyone’s diet, and warned of the dangers inherent in “bad fats.” We paid special attention to problems related to too much omega 6, the fat found primarily in animal source foods. This was a real eye-opening article for many, as we learned that animal sourced fats, the largest source of fat in the average American diet, were the primary cause of so many of the physical problems being experienced today.
We continued our supplement review with a discussion of the importance of Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is technically not a vitamin at all, but rather an indispensable hormone that God designed our bodies to receive from the sun’s rays falling on our skin. Sadly, the majority of people today fail to or are unable to allow enough sunlight to fall upon their skin each and every day and thus supplementation is imperative.
Then we moved on to the importance of iodine in the diet. Once again we learned that most people have a serious deficiency in iodine and that the only way to assure our body has sufficient amounts of this essential nutrient is by supplementation.
Next came an exploration of probiotics, the friendly bacteria found in the gut. We learned why they are so important if one wants to gain and maintain their health. Probiotics help us maintain a healthy gut environment and prevent or correct yeast infections.
Finally, we introduced the topic of Bio-Curcumin, an amazing, super-antioxidant, anti inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-rheumatic, liver protecting phenol that has been shown to even fight cancer cells. Curcumin is a polyphenol found in the Indian spice turmeric that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 3,000 years.
NOTE: Rhonda and I both take all of the above supplements on a daily basis in addition to a basically raw, 100% plant-based diet. Our diet also includes freshly extracted vegetable juices, BarleyMax, green smoothies, and blended salads each and every day.
Most recently, we took a sabbatical from talking about supplements with an article concerning National Health Care, sharing its inherent problems and dangers.
Last Word on Supplements
Now it’s time to wrap up this series by talking about a few other supplements that are not necessarily essential, but play a unique role in supporting the immune system and helping the body correct various physical problems.Enzymes
All raw plant foods contain enzymes which help in their digestion. If the food is cooked, the high temperatures used in cooking destroys these enzymes and this requires the body to give up enzymes from its limited enzyme reserve in order to digest these cooked foods. When plant-based foods are cooked, enzymes begin to die at approximately 107 degrees Fahrenheit. By the time that food reaches approximately 122 degrees, all enzymatic activity has ceased and the food has become a dead food. Foods boiled or steamed are heated to 212 degrees. A slow oven starts at about 250 degrees. When cooked food is consumed, in order to avoid the body from having to call on its enzyme reserves in order to digest that cooked food, we can take an enzyme supplement along with what we eat. Rhonda and I both take two enzyme capsules either before, during or following a meal that contains cooked foods.Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase, or serratia peptidase, is a proteolytic enzyme originally isolated from a microorganism in the intestine of a silkworm. Proteolytic enzymes used systemically help reduce inflammation in the body and symptoms that often accompany inflammation. A natural anti-inflammatory enzyme, serrapeptase digests non-living tissue. The enteric coating that surrounds it assures passage through the stomach so that maximum amounts can be absorbed into the bloodstream.Rhonda’s Experience with Serrapeptase
Both Rhonda and I have experience almost miraculous healing from inflammation following the use of this supplement. When Rhonda tore her rotator cuff several years ago, she couldn’t move her left arm more than six inches from her side. The surgeon said that without surgery, she would not be able to regain use of her left arm. Rhonda asked the surgeon if diet could repair the tear without surgery and he almost laughed at her. Well, Rhonda said that she was going to give the diet a try before submitting to any surgery and immediately adopted the Hallelujah Acres Recovery Diet. As part of that diet regimen, she took five serrapeptase capsules hourly for the first few days and then gradually reduced that number to one a day which she continues to take daily. After she began taking the serrapeptase each day along with some chiropractic intervention, she was able to move her arm further and further from her body until she could raise her arm above her head without any pain. Now here she is several years later and has had no further problem with her rotator cuff.Rev. Malkmus’ Experience with Serrapeptase
About five years ago, I was standing on my tiptoes on the top of a six-foot ladder leaning against our log cabin wall trying to reach an area with my staining brush I couldn’t quite reach. Suddenly, the ladder slid out from under me. From where my head was before the fall began to where it landed on a railroad tie was a distance of nearly 16 feet. I was able to break the fall somewhat with my arms, but the left side of my face, in the eye area, took the brunt of the fall. Almost immediately my left eye totally closed. Amazingly, I experienced no pain and practically no bleeding from the scratches. I did not go to a doctor because I knew that unless there was a detached retina from the fall there was little a doctor could do for me. My fall happened on a Wednesday and that evening I went to mid-week church service. Folks saw my condition, and they were horrified. Immediately after the fall, I went on the Hallelujah Acres Recovery Diet and began taking five serrapeptase capsules hourly as Rhonda had done following her rotator cuff tear. By Sunday, the folks in church who had seen me Wednesday evening could hardly tell that I had taken a fall just four days prior. For inflammation and pain, this serrapeptase supplement performs almost miraculously!Joint Health
Hallelujah Acres Joint Health supplement is an effective, all-natural joint support. It’s hard to live an active lifestyle with chronic pain in your back, neck, ankles, knees, knuckles and other joints. But mass-market pain relievers like acetaminophen, ibuprofen and naproxen sodium can lead to other problems, like liver damage and bleeding. At best, they address symptoms, not the cause, of those aches and pains. How is Hallelujah Acres Joint Health different from other joint formulas? The ingredients in our supplement get to the root of the problem — inflammation — and suppress free radicals to stop the damage. These are the ingredients:- Boswellia contains potent boswellic acids, which inhibit pro-inflammatory substances such as leukotrienes in the body. In contrast to NSAIDs, boswellia does not appear to cause stomach bleeding.
- Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful compound shown to guard against inflammation. Unlike many turmeric supplements, Hallelujah Acres Joint Health Supplement uses BCM-95, curcumin’s most potent form and the easiest for the body to absorb.
- Soy/Avocado Unsaponafiables is the main ingredient that helps rebuild cartilage.
