Indoor Exercises for Allergy Season

Dr. Chauncey W. Crandall, M.D., F.A.C.C., is chief of the cardiac transplant program at the world-renowned Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where he practices interventional vascular and transplant cardiology. Dr. Crandall also publishes a monthly newsletter titled “Heart Health Report”. In the November 2014 issue he answers a reader who can’t walk in the outside air because of allergy reasons, and asks if Dr. Crandall he has any suggestions for exercise. Here was his answer:
“There are many ways to fulfill your commitment of one-hour exercise daily. For instance, you could head for a mall; many indoor shopping areas have walking clubs that meet before the stores open, to cut down on distractions. “You could also join a gym or get a stationary bike, elliptical trainer, or other type of exercise equipment to use at home. “If you prefer water activities, check your local community college or recreation area for fitness classes. “Physical activity is necessary to heart health, and if you are truly committed to staying healthy, you won’t let anything stop you!
