Before anyone can stop cheating on The Hallelujah Diet, they have to have a reason to stop cheating. Knowledge is power and sadly the Bible tells us God’s people are being destroyed for lack of it:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”
~ Hosea 4:6
Recently I gave the most important reason to stop cheating, and that was a scriptural reason. If you are a Christian your body doesn’t belong to you – but rather it belongs to God! Following up on that previous message, I want to help you gain a better understanding of why it is imperative that you stop cheating if you want to regain or retain your health. Let me begin with some incredible research findings that will help increase your knowledge, so that you can better understand the dangers of cheating. The China Study
The most comprehensive scientific research project ever undertaken by the scientific community showing the relationship between various diets and resulting diseases was the China Project. It was conducted by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, research director at Cornell University in New York. For anyone wanting to learn more about Dr. Campbell’s work in the area of nutrition, I strongly recommend you get a copy of The China Study. This exhaustive presentation of the findings from the China Project conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer, as well as other diseases and illnesses. What was so unique about the China Project was that it focused on certain provinces in China where people have been eating the same diet for generations. By analyzing what the people in various provinces ate, the China Project came up with some startling findings as to the effects of various diets and the relationship of those diets to disease. Researchers gathered information on how people lived and died in 65 counties in various parts of China. They used very comprehensive and startling data on 80 million Chinese that showed death rates from specific diseases varied, sometimes several hundred-fold, from county to county, depending on what they ate. Here is a powerful statement that the researchers made based on their findings:“By now, you have certainly gotten the message that animal-based foods should be replaced by plant-based foods as much as possible.”The American Dietetic Association agrees. In a position paper based on study findings, the ADA writes,
“It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases . . . Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than non-vegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.”Researchers who conducted the 25-year Okinawa Centenarian Study agree, too stating, "Minimize your animal food consumption." As Dr. Dean Ornish, director of the Preventative Medicine Research Institute at the Universty of California writes,
”We have to go beyond the (U.S. dietary) guidelines to a low-fat vegetarian diet... Animal products are the main culprit in what is killing us. We can absolutely live better lives without them."The closing thought shared by the researchers of the China Project was:
“If people the world over were to eat mostly a plant-based diet, and if sanitation measures were taken in the developing countries to reduce communicable infectious diseases, scientists estimate that premature deaths from all diseases could be reduced by 80 to 90%.”
Animal-Source Foods
In Bible days, there were societies of pure vegetarians while other societies consumed some animal products – animal flesh and goat milk. However, even in those societies where animal flesh was eaten, consumption was extremely limited and confined to special occasions because the ancients had no means of refrigeration. For this same reason, goat milk was consumed in its raw state almost immediately after milking. It is also important to note here that almost all milk consumed in Bible days was goat milk. Even to this day, The United States is one of the few countries in the world that consumes more cow milk than goat milk. It is also interesting to note that in Bible days, the fat content of grass-fed animals, which was all they had to eat, was around 3%. This is the fat content that you will find in wild deer to this day.6 Things Man Didn’t Learn from the Bible
- Man started graining the animals in an effort to put more fat on their flesh.
- Even later, farmers learned that they could get these animals to grow more rapidly if they gave them growth hormones.
- Then they learned that by giving the animals antibiotics, they could cover up the physical breakdown that occurred by this unnatural and rapid growth.
- Farmers next began to realize that by giving the milk cows hormones that caused them to grow faster, they could also generate more milk production.
- Forcing these milk cows to produce more milk than God designed them to produce caused all manner of physical breakdown. Farmers realized (again) they could give cows more antibiotics.
- As man began to drink more and more cow milk, man had to find a way to prevent the milk from going bad too quickly. To solve that problem man learned that by cooking the milk in a pasteurizing process that killed both friendly and unfriendly bacteria and destroying the enzymes (life force in raw milk) they could give the milk a longer shelf life under refrigeration.
Renew Your Mind
In order to keep from cheating, it’s helpful to begin by taking note of how we have increasingly through the years, changed our diet. We have strayed from the way God designed us to nourish our bodies as so clearly articulated by God in Genesis 1:29. Now people have chosen to follow what I call the “World’s Way” of consuming the Standard American Diet (SAD) — which is a far cry from the diet God designed for our physical bodies. And what did God have to say about this?“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” ~ Romans 12:2In order to stop cheating, God tells us it is necessary that we “renew our mind.” Actually this verse is challenging us to reprogram our minds! Why do we need to reprogram our minds? The Bible clearly answers this question with these words “that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Dear friend, I want for you what the Apostle John wished for his friend Gaius:
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” ~ 3 John 1:2God wants us to be as well in our physical bodies as we are in our spiritual souls! But we are not and it’s not God’s fault. Because God warns us that:
“Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” ~ Galatians 6:7These are irreversible laws He established to govern these God-created physical bodies we each possess. Now consider what God has to say about these physical bodies:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” ~ Psalm 139:14 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing (reprogramming) of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God.” ~ Romans 12:2For the past 21 years, I have been attempting to “renew” or “reprogram” the minds of Christians with regards to how they look at food and how they nourish their physical bodies. Millions have allowed their mind to be renewed and as a result changed their diets and by so doing “proven what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God” as they saw their physical problems simply go away. Will you allow your mind to be renewed so that you too can “Prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God? Or will you continue to allow the world to program your mind and dictate how you nourish your body? Each of us has a choice! Joshua challenged the Israelites in his day with these words:
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye shall serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the Gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” ~ Joshua 24:15James confirms Joshua's words in the New Testament:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway foregeteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” ~ James 1:22-25
That’s it for this time. Next week, the good Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise too high, we will return with another Hallelujah Acres Health Tip. Trust you will join us and that you will share these Health Tips with friends and loved ones.
