This past Wednesday, May 8th, Rhonda and I journeyed from our home in St. Augustine, Florida to the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina for our 17th Annual Health Minister Conference (aka Reunion).
Since our first Health Minister Training in August 1994 (25 people attended that first training including Olin Idol, Hallelujah Acres Vice-President of Health), we have now trained over 11,000 Health Ministers who are presently ministering in every state in the United States as well as in 48 foreign lands, and we now have an accrual presence in Canada, Nigeria, and Hong Kong.
In 1996, two years after beginning our Health Minister program, we held our first Health Minister Reunion. Since then, Health Ministers have attended these events to renew acquaintances and to get their batteries recharged to go back into their field of ministry of helping others improve their health.
I find these annual celebrations so exciting, first because many of these Health Ministers have become dear friends and at these Reunions we have time to spend with them, but the most exciting aspect is to learn of the incredible job many these Health Ministers are doing in sharing God’s health message with others around the world.
And I always appreciate the opportunity to speak to the Health Ministers to inspire them to go back and redouble their efforts of helping others improve both their physical and spiritual health.
In my address to the Health Ministers on the opening evening this past Thursday, I shared with them the words of Thomas Edison spoken over 100 years ago: “THE DOCTOR OF THE FUTURE will give no medicine but will interest their patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause of prevention of disease.”
In my address, I shared with the gathered Health Ministers that the primary definition of the word “Doctor” is “TEACHER.” Thus, what Thomas Edison was saying over 100 years ago has great application to our Health Ministers, because teaching is exactly what our Health Ministers are doing — they are indeed the doctors of the future!
Thomas Edison’s words described the ministry of our Health Ministers perfectly when he said: The doctor of the future will:
- Give no medicine
- But will interest their patients in the care of the human frame
- Interest their patients ….. in diet
- Interest their patients ….. in the cause and prevention of disease.
“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.” ~ Mark 5:25-26By contrast, this is what God and our Health Ministers have to offer:
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food (meat)”. ~ Genesis 1:29If you are interested in joining our elite team of Health Ministers and helping us minister health to others, we would love to have you join us.
