If you're fueling your body with the biblical plant-based diet that God intended you to, you may be paying unnecessarily for health insurance. Though employee wages across the U.S. are slow to increase, the rates of family coverage premiums have jumped significantly in recent years. The average annual cost spent on health in America today has nearly tripled in the last 15 years. According to Time magazine, the average spending on health-related necessities today for a family of four rings up at $25,826 per year, compared to the annual average of $8,414 in 2001.
The Piling Up of Health Costs
As health care costs become less and less affordable, millions of families feel trapped. For many, the thought of living without health insurance is terrifying. Add that to the cost of prescription medications - which account for almost 17 percent of all health care spending across the country - and it's easy to see that people are paying more money to fix health problems than to prevent them in the first place.
Health insurance is not so much preventative, as it is reactive, as Rev. George Malkmus explains in "God's Original Diet." The staggering costs of insurance are in no way helping you remain healthy. Instead, these costly premiums only truly benefit a member of the family when he or she falls ill. And even then, the average insurance plan seldom covers the entire cost, leaving family after family paying out of pocket for remaining treatments, surgeries and medicines.
Young and Healthy Americans
One argument against buying into the health insurance circle is that Obamacare isn't exactly a great deal financially for the country's vibrant and hardy young adults. A 2013 analysis by David Hogberg of the National Center for Public Policy Research found that by opting out of healthy insurance and instead paying the penalty, millions of young Americans would actually save money, according to an article published by Phillip Klien in the Washington Examiner.
In fact, he found that even when taking subsidies into account, 3.7 million people between the ages 18 and 34 would save at least $500. Even more notable, three million people in that same age range would save at least $1,000 each year. Though this wouldn't play out well for the insurers themselves, healthy individuals would benefit greatly.
This same argument could be made for healthy, thriving individuals of any age, taking care of their bodies with a primarily raw, plant-based diet. In opting out however, one still needs to satisfy the law. One alternative is the Samaritan Ministries, which offers substantial savings for those who qualify. In fact, there are number of similar programs available to Christians, as Dr. Donaldson explains in his recent blog post.
What's The Alternative?
What if there was another way to control your health and protect your body from sickness and disease? A way that didn't involve endless paperwork and fruitless payments? There is! Rather than be tied down to payment plans that will only bode well for if you fall ill, release yourself from the shackles of health insurance by adopting the Genesis 1:29 diet. When fed and nourished by the plants of the earth, the body can be miraculous and self-healing.
Rev. Malkmus who has been without health insurance for nearly over 40 years now, is quick to point out however, in "God's Original Diet," that he would not promote foregoing health insurance if he and his family members were not consuming a primarily raw food diet, or one similar to the Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle. He also advises having a form of accident insurance, in lieu of health insurance as accidents unfortunately, are largely unpredictable.
"Prevention is the key to outstanding health! An optimal diet and lifestyle will almost totally eliminate the risk of disease," he wrote.
Consuming a plant-based, primarily raw diet, he explains, is how he controls whether or not he becomes sick. Over the past four decades, Rev. Malkmus has not had any need for health insurance.
