Menopause symptoms are uncomfortable, and it can be frustrating to deal with these symptoms when you are at work. If the symptoms hit when you are on the job, you might not have the convenience of taking a moment to let the symptoms pass. But, there are a few things that you can do to reduce menopausal symptoms at work, to ensure that you stay comfortable throughout the day.

Dress in Layers

One common complaint is the inability to control the temperature in the office, causing some women to feel too hot or too cold during certain times of the day. If you find that you are uncomfortable because of the temperature, try dressing in layers so that you can make adjustments throughout the day. By wearing layers, you can remove a sweater or put on a jacket in order to help your body temperature stay comfortable. So, if a hot flash hits, it is simple to take off a layer so that you are more comfortable.

Take a Sick Day

Even though you aren’t coughing or sneezing, sometimes it might be appropriate to take a sick day every once in a while. If you had a sleepless night or you are uncomfortable because of menopausal symptoms, try calling in sick for a day so that you can recover. In fact, some women find that a sick day is the perfect solution, because the time off helps them to reduce stress levels. By managing stress levels, it becomes much easier to balance your hormones and reduce the symptoms of menopause at the same time.

Prevention Starts at Home

The truth is that the best way to manage menopausal symptoms while you are at work is to take a proactive approach to manage your health when you are at home. By making a few lifestyle changes, you can balance your hormones and reduce the symptoms of menopause, which in turn reduces the discomfort that you will experience while at work. These changes should include a healthy diet with plenty of leafy green vegetables, cutting the junk food, getting enough sleep at night, regular exercise, and the right supplements to support your health. Even simple changes can make a big difference over time, so look for ways that you can incrementally improve your habits. For example, try out new healthy lunch recipes that are easy to pack for work, so that you can have a healthy meal on the go. With small, simple changes in your daily habits, you can improve your health, balance your hormones, and decrease the menopause symptoms that you have been experiencing.
