Our automobile requires fuel on which to run. How well our automobile runs is dependent on the quality of the fuel we place in the fuel tank. Poor quality or low octane fuel will cause our automobile to run poorly, pinging knocking, while high quality and high octane fuel will cause our automobile to run as designed.
Just like your automobile, your body also requires fuel on which to run.
How well your body runs is also dependent on the quality of fuel you place in its fuel tank (stomach).Poor quality fuel (food and drink) will cause your body to run poorly, often causing it to ping and knock with low energy and sickness, while high quality fuel will cause your body to run well with high energy and free of sickness.
Have you ever given any thought to the type of fuel you are placing in your fuel tank? What I am attempting each of us to realize here is that we each have the ability to determine what type of fuel we provide our body and thus how well our body will perform each and every day.
As we pull up to the fuel pump (dinner table) each day of our life for a meal or snack, we have a choice. Yes, we each have the ability to choose what grade of fuel we are going to place into our fuel tank, and by that choice we determine how well our body will perform.
Interestingly, with regard to fuel quality, the most expensive fuels we can place into our bodies are the poorest fuels — they produce the produce the poorest results.
On the other hand, the least expensive fuels will produce the best results. With that as an introduction, let’s look at what God had to say about the subject:
What Did God Say The Ideal Fuel Was?
There is only one place we can turn in order to learn what is ideal fuel for the human body – and that is God’s instruction manual! The Bible is God’s instruction manual, given to us for our learning in all areas of life. Though God used a number of writers to pen the words found in the Bible, the entire bible originated with God – it was God inspired:“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (II Timothy 3:16-17)But you say the Bible was written thousands of years ago and we have much more up-to-date knowledge as to how we should fuel our bodies. Today we have university trained nutritionists to guide us, and certainly they know more as to what proper fuel for our physical body is than some old antiquated book called the Bible. Interestingly, the Bible addresses this challenge in the following verses:
“The wisdom of this world foolishness with God” (1Corithians 3:19) “Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (II Timothy 3:70) “Let God be true and every man a liar.” (Romans 3:4)Some 6,000 years ago, God — the creator of the first human, Adam — gave instructions to Adam as to what fuel he should fuel his body with, and through Adam to every human who would ever walk this earth:
“AND GOD SAID, behold I have given you every herb (vegetable) bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to YOU it shall be for meat (FUEL). (Genesis 1:29).Notice the first three words – “AND GOD SAID. . . .” Now if you believe the Bible to be the Word of God as I do, then we must accept this verse as being God's original intent concerning the ultimate fuel for the human body. Friends, this is not this editor speaking, but this is God! This is what He said immediately after creating that very first man followed by the first woman. He said they should eat “every vegetable, fruit, and seed”. If we believe the Bible to be the word of God, then we must accept this truth!
What Type Of Fuels Are We Fueling Our Bodies With Today?
If we take even a casual look at what fuel we are using to nourish our bodies with today, I believe most will have to admit that we have departed greatly from God's instructions. In God’s original Genesis 1:29 diet you will find:- no Pepsi Cola, Coke, Sun Drop, or any other soft drinks
- no Twinkies, donuts, cinnamon buns, pies, cakes or any other sugar dessert
- no candy or gum
- no coffee, tea, or hot chocolate
- no any alcoholic drink
- no tobacco or toxic drug (over-the-counter, doctor-prescribed, or recreational)
In The Beginning
In the beginning, all that was available to fuel the body with were the natural, raw, organically grown living plant foods (fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts). These were the foods God had created and placed in the garden to provide mankind with the fuel needed to run the complex physical body God had created. Interestingly, every plant-eating animal of God in the wild has — since creation by God some 6,000 years ago until this present moment — instinctively consumed their fuel directly from the plants in the garden in its living and raw form. Only man, who has lost all natural instincts, cooks his food and consumes for fuel items found outside the garden. What we are consuming for fuel today reminds me of a cartoon I saw many years ago with the heading “We’ve come a long way baby”. In the cartoon was depicted a scantily clad, intoxicated woman, with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and a bottle of booze in her hand. The cartoon depicted a woman traveling down a very dangerous and destructive road that would end in disaster – I believe most people today are traveling down a very dangerous road because of what they are placing into our bodies for fuel. For proof, just take a look at the unprecedented sickness and physical breakdown, beginning ever earlier in life, and the exorbitant costs for this so-called health care, which is bankrupting individuals, families, and even our nation.Did God Design Us To Experience Sickness?
God did not design His human creation to experience sickness! Sickness was never a part of God’s plan for His human or even animal creation. After God had completed his six days of creation in Genesis Chapter One, he had the following to say:“And God saw everything he had made, and, behold it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31)God made no mistakes when He created man, nor did He create man to experience sickness. In fact, in 3 John 2, the Bible says:
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”God’s desire is that we be as well in our physical bodies as we are in our spiritual souls. If we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, then we must accept these verses as truth. If God did not design us to be sick and it is His “wish above all things” that we “be in health”, why is it that most people experience ill health today? The Bible provides us some clues...
Why Does Man Experience Sickness?
The first clue is found in Proverbs 26:2 where we read:“So the curse causeless shall not come.”Could it be that the curse of sickness will not come without a CAUSE? And if that be true, just what could that CAUSE be? The second clue is found in Galatians 6:7 where we read:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”!Here the Bible is telling us in no uncertain words that what we sow is what we will reap! Have you ever considered that what you are eating (sowing) may be what is producing the physical problems you are experiencing (reaping). That is certainly what I have found to be true through research and personal experience. It is also the experience of tens of thousands from around the world who have written me to share how dramatically their health improved after they changed the fuel they were fueling their bodies with. I have learned that we can actually turn disease on and off simply by changing the grade and octane of the fuels (food and drink) we place into the body. Fuels found outside the garden turn on disease and fuels from garden foods turn off disease. Why are so many such slow learners? This simple truth of sowing and reaping is why the Christian community is just as sick as the non-Christian communities and why prayer meeting night is dominated with the prayer requests for healing. Why is this so? The third clue is found in Hosea 4:6, where we read:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”When it comes to fueling our bodies, God’s people are consuming low octane, non-garden foods, rather than the high octane fuels God told us we should nourish our bodies with in Genesis 1:29. When it comes to how best to nourish our physical bodies, the Christian community is walking in the same darkness as the world community. Both camps are experiencing the same physical breakdown, regardless of how many prayers the Christian offers up to God for healing. If you are today experiencing either physical or psychological breakdown, please consider changing the fuel! After choosing Christ as your personal Saviour, this change in fuel could be the next greatest decision of your life. Can you imagine life without sickness? It could be a reality in your life!
