Did you know that you take a healthy dose of the world’s most powerful medicine every day?
In fact, most people take it three times a day — and don’t even realize it.
It's food.
Food is your most powerful medicine against almost any ailment the world can throw at you. It's not a new concept; it's an ancient concept we've simply talked ourselves out of.
Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said, "Let food be thy medicine, and medicine thy food." But when was the last time you heard a prescription for superfoods or took a doctor's orders to dig up a dandelion in your yard to make a therapeutic tea?
We as a society have wooed ourselves into thinking that food is too simple a remedy. We'd rather take the sledgehammer approach of harsh drugs than gently ease the body to wellness with medicine that grows under our feet.
But the truth is, both disease and medicine are quite simple.
Disease is simply malfunctioning cells due to toxicity, deficiency, or both, most of which don't come from polluted air, water, or other environmental toxins, but food. And not necessarily contaminated food, but food that the human body was never meant to have, like junk food, refined sugar, white flour and other bleached food products, and animal-sourced foods like meat and dairy.
These foods either starve the body of nutrients, slow the body's toxin removal system — or both — creating problems that lead to disease.
What most people don't realize, however, is that the right foods can be the remedy... the medicine. Whole, plant-based foods, when eaten as close to their original state as possible, feed the body with everything it needs to protect itself and even heal itself from almost any disease.
In short, you are what you eat. Wrong foods harm, right foods heal.
