Without sickness, there would be no need for national health care (Obamacare) or even health insurance. So the concern today should not be whether a person has health insurance or not, but our concern should rather be, “How can we PREVENT sickness?”
If we can find a way to prevent sickness, we would have no further need for health insurance — think about it!
I personally have not carried health insurance for nearly 40 years. That may sound like an irresponsible and outlandish thing to not do, but there are several reasons. The first reason is that I had personally found a way to prevent sickness.
And the second reason is because health insurance has absolutely nothing to do with “health”, but rather everything to do with “disease.”
Possessing Health Insurance does not guarantee “health” or prevent sickness, but rather provides a way to pay for the expenses of recovering from sickness after sickness has manifest.
Can you imagine living in a day when death did not come via a heart attack, stroke, or cancer (the cause of most deaths today)?
Can you imagine living in a day when rather than dying of a disease, people simply died of old age? (See Genesis 15:15, Deuteronomy 34:7).
That’s the way God intended man to leave this world!
Believe it or not, there was such a day, and it would appear that is the way God’s people left this world during the first 1,700 years of recorded Biblical history. And can you guess their ages at time of death?
If you check on the ages of the Patriarchs at death (See Genesis 5:1-32), you will find their average age at death was 912 years, with Methuselah living to the ripe old age of 969 years. (See Genesis 5:27) And these were literal 365-day years.
I find it all very interesting!
And it is true that during at least the first 1,700 years of recorded history; people did not die from cancer, heart attacks, strokes or any other of the diseases that men and women are dying from today, but rather they simply died of “old age.”
These early saints of God — rather than dying while lying in a hospital bed with dangling IV’s, on oxygen, taking massive amounts of drugs, wired to monitors, nurses scurrying about, all creating huge medical bills – simply laid down and went to sleep. WOW!
How could this be?
In order to understand this, we must go back to the beginning of human life, back to the God who created man and human life, back to Genesis 1:1 – 2:7.
Then we must ask the question: “Did God, the Creator of man, design man to be sick?”
My answer to that question, and I believe you will agree is, “absolutely not!”
God would not do such a thing, and would that not be totally out of character for God. Also, would God create anything that was not perfect? See Genesis 1:31.
Why and Where Did Sickness Begin?
To that question some might answer, “I know why – it began with Adam and Eve and was the result of the eating of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.” But that answer can’t be accurate, because there is not a single recorded instance of sickness in the Bible until after the flood which occurred some 1,700 years after that Garden experience. In fact, in searching the Scriptures, I find no recorded instance of sickness occurring until after the year 1706 B.C., the year the children of Israel went into captivity in Egypt and started eating the flesh of animals (presumably on a regular basis). This is, something the Egyptians had apparently been doing prior to the Israelites’ arrival in Egypt.Where Did Sickness Among The Israelites Begin?
But even then, though we see sickness being experienced by the Egyptians, there’s no indication of sickness occurring among God’s people. Consider what God said concerning the Israelites health after they had left Egypt:“If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I WILL PUT NONE OF THESE DISEASES UPON THEE, which I have brought upon the Egyptians . . .” ~ Exodus 15:26Apparently the Israelites started consuming animal flesh on a regular basis during the years they were in captivity in Egypt, because as God was bringing them out of Egypt, the children of Israel expressed great unhappiness with God’s provision of manna. And what was the cause of that unhappiness – God was NOT providing them with the FLESH they had learned to eat on a regular basis while in Egypt. This unhappiness is clearly evidenced by what they had to say as they journeyed out of Egypt:
“And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. . . And said unto them, ‘Would to God we HAD DIED by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the FLESH pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger. Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.” ~ Exodus 16:2-3Now this gets real interesting. Some 800 years after the flood, and some 2,500 years after the eating of that forbidden fruit, we find the first recorded instance of sickness occurring among God’s chosen people. And what was the occasion of that sickness? We find the answer recorded in Numbers Chapter 11. It is in this chapter we learn that while God was the dietitian, providing the Israelites their daily sustenance (Manna), as we have already seen in Exodus 16:2-3, and during their 40 years of wilderness wandering, the following occurred:
“And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord . . . And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, WHO SHALL GIVE US FLESH TO EAT? But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, BESIDE THIS MANNA, before our eyes.”Moses then intercedes for the people:
“When should I have FLESH to give unto all this people? For they weep unto me, saying ‘GIVE US FLESH that we may eat’ . . . And the Lord said unto Moses . . . Say unto the people . . . THE LORD WILL GIVE YOU FLESH, and ye shall eat. Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days, but even a whole month, UNTIL IT COMES OUT YOUR NOSTRILS, AND BECOMES LOATHSOME UNTO YOU . . . “And there went forth a wind from the Lord, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side (24 miles), and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high (3 feet) upon the face of the earth. And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails . . . “AND WHILE THE FLESH WAS YET BETWEEN THEIR TEETH, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a VERY GREAT PLAGUE . . . And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people who lusted.”Am I saying that the very first instance of sickness recorded in the Bible among God’s chosen people was possibly because the people were not happy with God’s provision of manna? That is certainly how it would appear! And what was manna?
“. . . manna was as coriander seed, and the colour therof as the colour of bdellium . . . white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.” ~ Exodus 16:31 & Numbers 11:7
Let's Go Back To The Garden For A Moment
“And the Lord God planted a garden eastward of Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” ~ Genesis 2:8Immediately after creating this first human (Adam), God places Adam in that garden He had created, and then we read:
“And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and GOOD FOR FOOD . . . .” ~ Genesis 2:9So after God creates Adam, God places him in that garden He had created, and here is what God said to Adam:
“GOD SAID, Behold, I have given you every herb (vegetable) bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the FRUIT of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for FOOD.” ~ Genesis 1:29In this verse I believe God the Creator gave His human creation a natural law regarding what was to be proper nourishment for the physical body God had created. And in this verse it is clearly evident that God intended humans to consume only the foods that came from the plants God created and placed in the Garden. I believe Genesis 9:3 was intended to be a one-time event, when God allowed man to consume animal flesh for the first time. And what was that one-time occasion? Flood waters had covered all garden foods (See Genesis 7:19 & 24), and for survival purposes, God allows the flesh of animals to be consumed for the very first time by humans, so that human life on earth could continue. Clearly, the eating of animal flesh was not God’s intent when God gave instructions to Adam in Genesis 1:29, but once man got the taste of flesh in Egypt and Genesis 9:3, he could not leave it alone. And interestingly, before man began consuming animal source foods, there is not a single recorded instance of sickness among the Israelites, and man lived to an average age of 912 years. But after the introduction of flesh, man’s lifespan drops dramatically and sickness enters the human race. For the past 22 years, I have been warning that animal source foods, whether organically grown or not, are not only hazardous to our health, but also the cause or contributing cause of most physical problems people experience today. This warning has gone unheeded by most, and as a result, the number of people both inside and outside our churches being diagnosed with cancer and experiencing heart attacks and strokes continues to rise. The facts are that not only are animal products the primary cause of cancer, heart attacks and strokes, but in addition, they are a contributing cause of most of the other physical problems people experience today. Eliminate the consuming of animal source foods from your diet and you eliminate almost any fear of ever experiencing not only cancer, heart attack or stroke, but also Type 2 diabetes, arthritis, gout, osteoporosis, asthma, sleep apnea, heart burn, acid stomach, and the list goes on and on and on. My dear Christian friend, when you offer a prayer over the food you are about to eat, that spiritual prayer does not cause God to come down and remove the harmful substances contained within or the harmful effects those substances will have upon the body! Rather God issues a warning to us all in Galatians 6:7: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Thus we are each accountable for and responsible for our own health. See Romans 12:1-2. Please my dear friend, take head to this warning! Your health and longevity, along with that of your family, depend on you eliminating all animal source foods from your table. I have not consumed animal source foods since 1976, and at 80-plus years of age, I have a strong and healthy physical body. During that almost 40-years my diet has been 100% plant based! You can have the same! This may come as a shock to many – our health has practically nothing to do with God or the doctor or whether we have health insurance or not, but it has everything to do with how well we nourish and exercise our body. Every one of us has almost total control over our own health and that of our family’s health! Choose you this day which you will be: “healthy" or "sick"! That is the question and that is your choice! You know the choice I made almost 40 years ago; now it is your turn to choose.
