November is World Vegan Month, and what better way to celebrate than by sharing your knowledge of a plant-based diet with the ones you know and love! Paul and I have found that when we spread the word about how a vegan diet has helped us experience better health, those around us want to learn more.
By raising awareness about the benefits of a vegan diet, we can provide more than just useful information - we can provide hope to someone in need. The following are just a few ideas for how to encourage others to ditch the meat and give a vegan diet a try. For starters, with so many holiday events coming up, why not bring one of your favorite plant-based recipes. Or better yet, throw your own party with a variety of delicious plant-based recipes for everyone to try! Check out the recipe section of our website for some inspiration and great ideas! Don’t forget to tell the story about how your health was personally impacted as a result of switching to a vegan diet, so they have some food for thought while they sample the nutritious spread! With just a printer, some paper and a binder, you could even create a cookbook with some of your favorite, easy to prepare plant-based recipes to give to family and friends. It’s the gift that truly does keep giving! No time to put together your own recipe book - no worries! Check out our website for a variety of vegan recipe books that make excellent gifts, like Rhonda Malkmus’ Recipes for Life! We even have a DVD set of Rhonda’s Culinary Creations which demonstrates how to create incredible, vegan meals and recipes from start to finish. Undoubtedly though, one of the easiest ways to spread the message about a vegan diet is simply by talking with others about your experience and what a vegan diet has done for you. Share facts that help them understand what an incredible impact they will be making on the earth, their health and the environment by making the switch! For instance, you could tell them how The American Cancer Society recommends a diet with "an emphasis on plant foods" for the prevention of cancer. Inform them how the hydrating, antioxidant rich properties of a plant-based diet can boost their immune system, give them more energy and better looking skin! Or how The China Study, one of the most comprehensive studies of nutrition ever conducted, proves that a plant-based diet could reduce or prevent a long list of ailments and prolong lives! Share with them inspirational books like The Hallelujah Diet or Why Christians Get Sick. Plus, eye-opening DVD’s like The Truth Behind Meat and Dairy or The Miraculous Self-Healing Body, are excellent ways to get the message across! So this month, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, give those poor holiday turkeys a little peace of mind and spread the message of health with a menu of plant-based recipes instead! There’s really no better gift could you give your friends and family this holiday season.
