Just like an automobile, our body requires fuel to run on. Have you ever given any thought to the type of fuel you are placing in your fuel tank (stomach)?
Poor quality fuel (unhealthy food and drink) will cause your body to run poorly, often causing it to ping and knock with low energy and sickness, while high quality fuel will allow your body to run smoothly – sickness free and with high energy.
As we pull up to the fuel pump (table) each day of our life for a fill-up (meal or snack), we have a choice. Yes, we each have the ability to choose what grade of fuel we are going to place into our fuel tank, and by that choice we determine how well our body will run (perform). Interestingly, with regard to fuel quality, the most expensive fuels we can place into our bodies — steaks, hamburgers, sugar desserts, hot dogs, soft drinks, potato chips, etc. — are the poorest fuels.
Sadly, these expensive fuels will produce the poorest results.
On the other hand, the least expensive fuels – fresh raw foods coming from the garden – will produce the best results. How well our body runs is dependent on the quality of fuel we place in its fuel tank (stomach).
What Did God Say The Ideal Fuel Should Be?
There is only one place we can turn in order to learn what is ideal fuel for the human body – and that is God's instruction manual! God's instruction manual is the Bible, given to us by God for our learning and instructions in all areas of life.
And though God used a number of writers to pen the words found in the Bible, the entire Bible originated with God – it was God-inspired:
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." - II Timothy 3:16-17
"But Rev. Malkmus," people say to me, "The Bible was written thousands of years ago, haven't we much more up-to-date knowledge as to how we should fuel our bodies? Today we have university-trained nutritionists to guide us, and certainly they know more as to what proper fuel for our physical body is than some old antiquated book."
Interestingly, the Bible addresses that challenge in the following verses:
- "The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God." -1 Corithians 3:19
- "Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." - II Timothy 3:70
- "Let God be true and every man a liar." -Romans 3:4
It was some 6,000 years ago, God, the creator of that first human, Adam, that God gave instructions as to what fuel we should fuel our body with. Here is what God said to Adam, and through Adam to every human who would come after Adam – including you and me:
"And God said, behold I have given you every herb (vegetable) bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food (fuel)." - Genesis 1:29
Notice the first three words in that verse – "And God said."
Now if you believe the Bible to be the Word of God as I do, then we must accept this verse as being the intent of God concerning what is the ultimate fuel with which to fuel our human physical bodies. Friends, this is not my opinion, this is from the very mouth of God who had just created that very first man followed by the first woman, followed by you and me. If we believe the Bible to be the word of God, then we must accept this truth!
What Are We Fueling Our Bodies With Today?
If we take even a casual look at what fuels most people are using in an attempt to nourish their bodies with today, I believe most will have to admit that we have departed greatly from what God told us we should nourish our bodies with in Genesis 1:29!
In God's original Genesis 1:29 diet you will find no Pepsi Cola, Coke, Sun Drop, or any other soft drink; no Twinkies, donuts, cinnamon buns, pies, cakes, cookies, or any other sugar dessert; no candy or gum; no coffee, tea, or hot chocolate; nor any alcoholic drink; no tobacco or toxic drug (over-the-counter, doctor-prescribed or recreational).
Nor were there any French fries or other fried foods in God's Genesis 1:29 diet. There were no sausages, biscuits or gravy. Nor were there any preservatives, dyes or coloring agents, sodium chloride (table salt) MSG, sodium nitrates or nitrites.
There were no white bleached flour or breads, or cakes and pastries made from it. There was no bacon and eggs or sausage and pancakes, or cereals or granola. Oh I could go on and on here listing all the non-garden foods and substances we are consuming today that were not included in God's Original Genesis 1:29 diet. There were not any of these so-called foods in God's original Diet – there was, was however, one good thing that resulted from all of these omissions: good health.
Good Health
In the beginning, all that was available to fuel the body of that first man and first woman were the natural, raw, organically grown living plant foods (fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts) God had created and placed in the garden. These foods were intended to provide mankind with the fuel needed to run the complex physical body God had created.
Consider that every plant-eating animal creation of God in the wild, ever since creation until this present day, instinctively consumes its fuel directly from the plants in the garden, in their living and raw form. Only man, who has shunned all natural instincts, consumes items found outside the garden and in cooked form.
What we are consuming for fuel today reminds me of a cartoon I saw many years ago with the heading "You've come a long way baby". In the cartoon (a satire of the Virginia Slims cigarette ad), you see depicted a scantily clad, intoxicated woman with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and a bottle of booze in her hand.
Just as this cartoon depicted a woman traveling down a very dangerous and destructive road that would end in disaster – I believe most people today are traveling down a very dangerous road because of what they are placing into their bodies for fuel.
For proof that this road is a dangerous one, you only need to take a look at the unprecedented sickness and physical breakdown, beginning ever earlier in life, and the exorbitant costs for so-called health care, which is bankrupting individuals, families, and even our nation.
69 Percent of People Are Overweight Or Obese
In addition to this statistic, 70 percent take at least one prescription drug, more than half take at least two prescriptions, and 20 percent take five or more.
Even in the modern, developed world – which is churning out unhealthy citizens at an alarming rate – Americans are to be pitied.
A recent study established "strikingly consistent and pervasive" patterns of worse health for all Americans, young and old, compared with the health of citizens from economically comparable nations.
Worst of all, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Today, more than a third of children and adolescents are obese. Unless there are radical changes this generation of American children will be the first to die younger than their parents.
Did God Design Us to Experience Sickness?
Sickness was never a part of God's plan for His human creation, or even His animal creation! After God had completed His six days of creation in Genesis Chapter One, He had the following to say concerning what He had just made:
"And God saw everything He had made, and, behold it was very good."
~ Genesis 1:31
God made no mistakes when He created man, nor did He create man to ever experience sickness. In fact in 3 John 1:2 says:
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth."
God's desire is that we be as well in our physical bodies as we are in our spiritual souls.
Here at Hallelujah Acres, we have learned that we can actually turn on disease and turn off disease simply by changing the grade or octane of the fuel we place into the body in the form of food and drink. Foods (fuel) found outside the garden turns ON disease and food (fuel) coming from garden foods, turn OFF disease.
Why Man Experiences Sickness
If we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, then we must accept the verses above as truth, that we were created "very good" (perfect).
And, if God did not design us to be sick and that is a true statement according to 3 John 2, "wish above all things" that we "be in health", why is it that people experience so much sickness today?
The Bible provides us three clues in the following verses as to why we get sick:
- The first clue is found in Proverbs 26:2 where we read: "So the curse causeless shall not come." Could it be that the curse of sickness will not come without a cause? And if that be true, just what could that cause be? Could it be wrong fuel?
- The second clue is found in Galatians 6:7 where we read: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap!" This simple truth of sowing and reaping is why the Christian community is just a sick as the non-Christian communities and why prayer meeting night is dominated with prayer requests for healing. Both the Christian community and the non-Christian communities are consuming the same unhealthy foods (fuel).
- The third clue is found in Hosea 4:6, where we read: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
- When it comes to how best to nourish our physical bodies, the Christian community is walking in the same gross darkness as the world.
Both camps are experiencing the same physical breakdown, regardless of how many prayers the Christian community offers up to God for healing or how much money a person has.
So if you are today experiencing either physical or psychological breakdown, consider changing the fuel!
After choosing Christ as your personal Saviour, this change in fuel could be the next greatest decision of your life. Can you imagine life without sickness?
It could be a reality in your life as it has been in mine!
It's your choice… how will you choose?
