My husband, Bob, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of leukemia (of the plasma cells), in Jan of '98, given 30% chance of living beyond 7 mo. The MD's recommended chemotherapy and radiation, but said it would not cure it. Bob did take radiation on a large lesion on the pubic bone because they said he could break his hip very easily and be in a wheelchair. MM draws the calcium out of the bones, weakens them by making little cracks. Then the free calcium clogs up the kidneys causing kidney failure. The bone marrow is overtaken by the cancerous plasma cells so one becomes anemic and unable to fight infection.
Bob chose not to take chemo and we sought the Lord as to how to proceed. God gave him two consecutive dreams in which he was at the bottom of a stairway and the Lord was at the top. Jesus told him to take two steps forward and He'd meet him there. He didn't know quite what the two steps were to be, so there was more prayer and wise counsel. The chiropractor who discovered the problem said, If I were you I'd become a vegetarian overnight and go to Mexico. Well, we didn't go to Mexico (til this past spring when we went to Oasis of Hope Hospital for two months to minister as prayer warriors, encourager and friendship evangelists), but we did change our eating habits after two other people told us about the Hallelujah program. So, covered with prayer, the two steps were eating right and radiation (which he probably wouldn't have had to do, if we'd known more, but wanted to stop that large lesion now).
The doctor said it wouldn't work and was a little upset, but he readily admitted what he had to offer wouldn't help much. The lab tests started improving right away and six months later he said to keep on doing whatever you're doing, that he couldn't help him any more than that. We played healing Scripture tapes day and night and Bob read many healing Scriptures out loud daily. We quit watching TV with all its negativity and listened to and watched G Malkmus, Dr Lorraine Day and Dr Joel Robbins tapes often. Attending the Health Ministers Training that spring was great and confirmed all we were learning about God's original plan thru the books and tapes. Gradually, we were reminded of all we'd learned in health classes in school as kids (and not put to use) about nutrition, fresh air, water, exercise, sunlight and rest. It's hard to change old habits and we're still working on it.
God is an awesome God and we need to thank him everyday for all He has provided and be willing to give back to Him. He'll help us where we fail, IF we ask. The CBC lab tests are perfect. Only one test (IGG) is still out of line, but it's the best it's been since the diagnosis and it will return to normal. When we learn to follow God's plan in all things (not just picking and choosing what we like) God works all things for our good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. We are healed by the stripes of Jesus in many different ways. Praise the Lord and Hallelujah!
