Where Is God In Time of Sickness (Part 2)

Where Is God In Time of Sickness (Part 2)

Can you escape the law of gravity? Or live without oxygen? These are God's natural laws that no one can avoid. But what about the natural law concerning diet?
From Asthma to Cancer and Osteoporosis Reading Where Is God In Time of Sickness (Part 2) 12 minutes Next End of the 40-Year Migraine
In last week’s Health Tip we talked about a poll question which had been on my internet Health Tip site for the past month. Following are the results from the 2,138 people who took the poll as of July 15, 2011:
  • Changed diet and lifestyle (76% with 1,628 votes)
  • Prayer (22% with 467 votes)
  • No Idea (1% with 17 votes)
  • Good doctors and cancer hospital (1% with 18 votes)
  • Chemo, radiation, and surgery (less than 1% with 5 votes)
  • Health Insurance (less than 1% with 3 votes)
Last week after commenting on the bottom four responses, I spent the majority of the Health Tip on the “Prayer” response, which received the second greatest number of votes. Despite the fact that we see people healed in response to prayer, we have all experienced times when prayers for healing did not result in healing. So, “Where is God in Time of Sickness?” For me, the answer to that question did not come all at once. As I became increasingly concerned that considerable prayer was not resulting in healing for sick people in my various churches, I would often pray:
“God, You said that if we would pray, You would hear and you would answer our prayers – Why did You not answer this prayer for healing?” "Dear Jesus, You said, 'Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. . .' (James 5:14-15). “Dear Jesus, we did everything you said in the Bible that needed to be done in order to obtain healing, yet rather than that person receiving healing, their condition continued to worsen and they died. Why Lord did you not answer that prayer?”
Have you ever allowed yourself to question God when it came to God not answering prayers for the healing of a loved one or fellow believer? In spite of abundant prayer, did they continue to decline in health and then die? Be honest in your answer. I have even seen Christians become angry with God when their prayers for healing did not result in healing. While others tried to make an excuse for God by saying that the person praying didn’t have sufficient faith, or they weren’t praying in the will of God, or, or, or . . . . But you say “It is wrong to question God!” Friend, when God says clearly in the Scriptures that if we will pray He will answer that prayer for healing, and He doesn’t, do you not find it difficult to not ask the question “WHY”?

Where Is God In Time Of Sickness?

Through a personal experience God allowed me to have over 35 years ago (in answer to numerous prayers I had made to God seeking an answer to the question “Where is God in Time of Sickness”), God revealed the answer I was seeking. Here is how it happened: The year was 1976; I was pastor of a brand new church I had birthed in 1970 with only my family of six that had grown to a membership of over 600 in six years. I was 42 years old at the time and at the peak of my ministry, with God’s blessings flowing so abundantly in my life and ministry, when I was told I had colon cancer. I was devastated! – Not that I was concerned about dying. I was a Christian and knew where I would go if I were to die. Rather my devastation was because I WAS a Christian, I was in full-time ministry for the Lord and didn’t understand why God was allowing me to have cancer, a potentially life threatening illness, when I was His and had dedicated my life to serving Him. I didn’t understand! Because my mother (a registered nurse) had died following years of debilitating and agonizing medical treatments for her colon cancer just before I was told I had cancer, I had lost faith in the modern medical approach to cancer. So, I went looking for an alternative way of dealing with my cancer. I started praying for and seeking an alternative approach. That search, I believe directed by God in response to my prayers for healing, led me to Lester Roloff. Brother Roloff was an evangelist in Texas who, for years, had been advocating a healthy diet and trying to get preachers to change their diets. His efforts were not appreciated by most and criticized by many! In spite of all that criticism, I turned to Brother Roloff in my time of need. Brother Roloff discouraged me from going the medical route for my cancer. He encouraged me to change my diet from the world’s SAD diet I had been eating the previous 42 years of my life to the diet God had given Adam in Genesis 1:29. He also encouraged me to drink lots of vegetable juices. I made the diet change overnight and almost immediately began to get well. Within days my rectal bleeding had stopped. Within a year the baseball-sized tumor under my left rib cage had disappeared — all without any help from doctors, drugs, radiation, or surgeries. So now I was faced with trying to reconcile why in answer to prayer, healing did not come. How could this be — and yet after a simple change in diet, healing DID come. Was God trying to show me something? And here is what God revealed to me.

God's Natural Laws

When God created this universe, He established natural laws to govern this universe. The law of gravity was one of these natural laws. We all know that if we get too close to the edge of a high place and violate that natural law – Christian or non-Christian – we will suffer the consequences of that violation. Here is what God showed me! After God created Adam and placed him in a garden, he gave Adam a diet designed to properly nourish that physical body (Genesis 1:29). In so doing, God had established a natural law regarding proper nourishment for Adam's body and for entire human race for all time. Today, both Christian and non-Christian are consuming a diet that is contrary to what God designed the human physical body to be nourished with. As a consequence, there is no difference between the physical health of the Christian and non-Christian communities. Both suffer the same physical problems to the same percentages, regardless of how many prayers Christians pray. Amazingly, when a non-Christian, someone who has never been saved, never accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, (Romans 3:23, 6:23; 5:8; 10:13), makes the diet change back to God’s original diet, they get well without prayer, without God, and without any help from doctors or drugs. Yet the Christian, who fails to make the diet change and continues in prayer to God for healing and accepts all the drugs and other modalities doctors have to offer, fails to get well. Why does the non-Christian without prayer and without God... get well? Why does the Christian with God and with prayer... fail to get well? The answer should be quite obvious – violation of GOD’S NATURAL LAWS.

Can God Still Heal?

In answer to prayer, can God still heal miraculously today? I believe the answer to that question is “absolutely yes”! I believe the same God who could heal the lame man in Acts 3, and the blind man in John 9, can still heal miraculously today. But these healings require God overruling the natural laws that He has established. However, I believe in most instances today, God allows His natural laws, no matter how many prayers we pray, to run their natural course because – God says: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) And I believe that is why, no matter how many prayers we pray, no matter how devout a Christian may be, or how great a ministry they have for the Lord, we see Christian people continue to progress in their sickness and die after abundant prayer. I believe God’s people are being “destroyed (dying) for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6) Many Charismatic pastors as well as people in Charismatic churches have come to me to share that they sometimes see miraculous healing in their churches in response to prayer, but if the person does not change their diet and lifestyle, they do not keep their healings. Many Charismatic pastors have come through our Health Minister training or sent folks from their churches to Hallelujah Acres for training in order to have a Health Minister in their church to make the people aware of the importance of consuming a healthy diet in order to prevent sickness in the first place or keep their healing after a miraculous healing.

Two Grandsons

Rhonda and I have 17 grandchildren - 14 boys and 3 girls along with 8 great grandchildren. Three years ago, two of our grandsons were diagnosed with cancer within months of each other. Immediately upon diagnosis, we began to pray for both grandsons' healing. One grandson started The Hallelujah Recovery Diet. The other grandson refused the diet change. His parents would make the juices and health restoring foods for him but he refused to drink or eat them. He chose the medical route of chemotherapy for his cancer over a changed diet. We recently had the funeral for the grandson who had refused the diet change. Attending the funeral was the grandson who went the diet change route for his cancer. He is alive, well, and cancer-free. Now remember, both Rhonda and I, along with many friends and family members had prayed earnestly for the healing of both of these boys yet one got well and the other died. Question – was it the prayers that brought about healing of the one who got well and overcame his cancer or was it his change in diet?

We Each Possess A Physical Body

The bodies we each possess are physical bodies and subject to the natural physical laws God established when He created them. Praying a spiritual prayer over toxic food before placing it into the body does not remove the harmful effects that toxic food or drink can have upon the body. God says: “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) I believe that almost every physical problem we experience today, other than accidents, is the result of placing something into our bodies God never designed our bodies to ever have to contend with. God says: “The curse causeless shall not come.” (Proverbs 12:2) In other words, if we do not sow wrong things (toxic foods) into our body, the curse of sickness will not come. Now I realize that not everyone is aware of this natural law God has established concerning how to properly nourish our glorious God created physical bodies, even though God clearly articulated this natural law in Genesis 1:29 right in the first chapter of each one of our Bibles. But regardless of whether we are aware or not, a violation of this natural law will bring the undesirable result of that violation whether that person is a Christian or non-Christian – just as the natural law called gravity affects a person (Christian or non-Christian) if they violate it! That is why Christians suffer the same physical problems as the non-Christian community and to the same percentages, in spite of all the prayers we Christians pray.

Here at Hallelujah Acres, after nearly 20 years of proclaiming a 100% plant-based diet, a diet based on the Genesis 1:29 diet God gave Adam some 6,000 years ago, we have seen tens-of-thousands experience what many would consider miraculous healings. Literally tens of thousands of people from around the world have written to share with me that after making the diet change we teach here at Hallelujah Acres, they recovered from over 170 different physical problems! This includes terminal, metastasized, stage 4 cancers, all without any medical attention or intervention. And they don’t get sick anymore! Please dear Christian, consider carefully what you are feeding your family or allowing your children to eat. Before you buy the food for, or prepare that next meal, ask yourself “Will the food I am serving my family contribute to their health or sow the seeds for sickness or life threatening cancer?”
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. AND BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)
