For many years, this editor has been saying that there is a strong link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination and autism. Sadly, while we have been waiting for this truth to be brought to light, thousands of young people have been damaged, many permanently. Now, however, there appears to be some of that light at the end of the tunnel. European news media are reporting that an Italian family has been awarded 174,000 Euro after the Italian Health Ministry admitted that the vaccine caused autism in 9-year-old Valentino Bocca. The boy was perfectly healthy until his MMR vaccine was administered when he was 15 months old. He began having diarrhea, soon did not want to eat, and could not feed with a spoon after only a few days. He later suffered from a painful bowel condition, common to autistic children. Today he is 9 years old and still does not speak. The family lawyer was quoted by The Independent news service as saying, "It is wrong for governments and their health authorities to exert strong pressure on parents to take children for the MMR
while ignoring that this vaccine can cause autism and linked conditions.”
Much concern has been raised over the years, and not without proof. In 1998, The Lancet, a British medical journal, published an article on the connection between the MMR vaccine and autism.
