As we commemorate the month of October as Breast Cancer Month, let’s start by looking at current figures for this dreaded illness.
The Impact of Breast Cancer
The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2016 are:
- About 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
- About 61,000 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
- About 40,450 women will die from breast cancer in 2016
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. (Only lung cancer kills more women each year.) The chance that a woman will die from breast cancer is about 1 in 36 (about 3%).
Death rates from breast cancer have been dropping since about 1989, with larger decreases in women younger than 50. These decreases are believed to be the result of finding breast cancer earlier through screening and increased awareness, as well as better treatments.
At this time there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. (This includes women still being treated and those who have completed treatment.) While some of these statistics may be considered “encouraging,” We need to see this cancer as a product of the environment and there are many areas of our life that we can control and “increase” those odds of not getting it significantly.
Maintain Your Health to Avoid Breast Cancer
Here is a list of 10 areas that you will want to introduce into your life immediately, whether you have breast cancer or would like to avoid it.
- Visit a biological dentist immediately and continue to work with one consistently throughout your life. Whether it is periodontal disease, root canals, mercury fillings or cavitations—any of these can definitely be a foundational cause for breast cancer and must be eliminated. There are estimates that over 90% of women who have breast cancer also are found to have root canals. Your mouth is in close proximity to your breasts so, pay great attention to it.
- Stop drinking or eating from plastic! Whether it is a plastic water bottle or a fast food container—or even a plastic straw or fork…the extra estrogen you receive and ingest will likely be enough to create an unbalance in your delicate balance of hormones. Switch immediately to stainless or glass and never, ever look back.
- Get a hormone test! This doesn’t look like a blood test. It looks like a saliva test. If your doctor doesn’t know how to give you one, find a doctor that will. This is especially important as you enter peri- and full onset of menopause. Although it is a “natural” experience, the state of your hormones is so important to the risks associated with breast health, that if all you need to do is introduce a little Maca and wild yam cream to assist in balancing what is left of your hormones as they gradually reduce, wouldn’t you consider that non-threatening act?
- Stay hydrated. There are not enough words to describe the importance of staying hydrated. However, we are not necessarily advocating merely water to hydrate you. Too much water has been known to flush out necessary nutrients from your body and that isn’t the goal. Rather, juicing vegetables and drinking that throughout the day will not only maintain your hydration, but it will also introduce additional vitamins, minerals and trace minerals to assist your body in it’s daily work while helping to prevent deficiencies.
- Begin discreet whole food supplementation. If you subscribe to the old idea that you can get all of your vitamins from just food, then we sincerely hope you 1. Don’t own a cell phone or a computer. 2. Have no stress in your life. 3. Are getting 7-9 hours of deep uninterrupted sleep every night. And basically have a perfect intestinal system with perfect detoxification systems. If you said “no” to any of the above, you will likely be needing a minimum of:

While we also take a turmeric based supplement to ensure that any inflammation in our body is mitigated, and a digestive enzyme to assist the digestion in its work, we understand that most people are afraid of taking supplements. But, as you age, your body becomes further compromised from toxins and the effects of aging, so from our perspective, we would like to give it the best chance of maintaining health—hence we add supplements.
- Never place a cell phone in your bra. This may come as a surprise to you, but just today, again, we saw a young woman using her bra as a pocket. If only people understood the dangers that are associated with radiation and placing them near sensitive areas like your brain and your breasts is just asking for trouble!
- Your blood sugar has an important connection with developing cancer. So, don’t cheat very often. As you age, you may find that your weight gain is more consistent and you struggle to lose it. If you have gone through menopause, you will struggle even more. To prevent further deterioration in your metabolism, you will find that your cheat moments need to be fewer and fewer. Begin to learn to love fresh fruit instead of sugar. The more you tax your pancreas and your insulin goes on a roller coaster ride, the greater likelihood you will develop a reduced immune system that will certainly set you up for cancer. And of course, any simple carbohydrate such as chips, crackers and white bread, white flour and white rice, will quickly break down into the same sugar that the donuts, cookies and candies that you pride yourself of never eating do.
- Move your body every single day. Whether you like it or not, exercise is a requirement in your daily life. It is not a “when I have time, I will do it.” It must be a priority and you must make time for it and do it. Why were your ancestors healthier than you? They walked greater distances, they bent down to plant seeds and pull weeds, and they climbed stairs and hills. Your body was designed to move. No excuses! Even if you have a hip, or knee, or back issue, you must move. Your lymphatic system is depending on you to keep it cleaned out. No perfect diet or supplement program can do that. Only movement. Find something that you enjoy doing and begin doing it today. Even if you start out with 5 minutes a day, continue to increase the duration of time so your body will gradually accept and expect daily exercise. You will be so glad you did.
- Manage your stress. It doesn’t matter whether you are in the “Sandwich” generation and you have grandchildren to take care of as well as elderly parents. If you don’t take care of yourself in the process, your health will soon react negatively from the stresses and disease will follow. Seek out help. Say no. Take care of yourself first in the morning so that when you do go to bed, you can’t say, “Well, maybe I can fit that in tomorrow.”
- Forgive. Stay positive, and be grateful. The top Toxicologist in the USA, has said, “If you have any cancer, you must deal with the unforgiveness and negativity that you are carrying.” Your health is so much more important than the offense you have been carrying. Let it go. Give it to God. Just don’t internalize it.

We realize that our society places a month to help us commemorate certain health issues. It really isn’t the quantity of days that you live that count, it’s the quality of each day.
