I am writing you from Greece. Since many, many years now I receive your weekly Health Tips and read them with great interest. I wish you could come to the Greek churches and teach the Christians how to eat and live ‘naturally,’ after God’s plan. I have already the reputation of being a ‘fanatic’ and our pastor says ‘we cannot do anything about our health because everything is in God’s hands and everything is in His holy will.’ That is what he preaches when someone dies from cancer. When I hear those words and that kind of preaching it makes me really sad. No one wants to listen to me. One week ago, I lost my best friend to ovarian cancer. I had sent her Hallelujah Acres testimonies of persons with that kind of cancer who got well following the Hallelujah Diet. When I asked her not to submit her body to the chemotherapy, her husband and other friends discouraged her from listening to me. I was the only one who tried to get her to go God’s way with her cancer. Well, just two years after receiving the first chemotherapy treatment, she died last week – leaving two little children – ages 3 and 4 years. I am so sorry and deeply discouraged. I don’t understand why even Christians don’t want to listen when you tell them there is a better way than the chemotherapy way. WHY Dr. Malkmus will they not listen? Do you have an answer? Our Lord bless you abundantly. Nicole V., Volos, GreeceDear Nicole, I am so sorry for the loss of your best friend. I have experienced similar grief when I encourage loved ones not to accept chemotherapy for their cancer and they too would not listen. And then as a result of accepting the chemo they died and I had to perform or attend their funeral. The only answer I can give you as to why Christians will not listen when we try and warn them of the dangers of chemotherapy is that Christians fail to realize that God has given each of us the responsibility of maintaining our own health. Too many Christians think that God controls every aspect of our lives and that we have no free will to choose, which is totally contrary to the Scriptures. Listen to what God says in Romans 12:1-2:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”In this verse God says that we are responsible for our own bodies and we should “not be conformed to this world;” and yet when a Christian is diagnosed with cancer where do they turn? Is it to God and His diet, or is it to the world and its chemotherapy drugs? And they do this even though God warns of the dangers of these drugs in Revelation 18:23. May this sad experience with your best friend not cause you to retreat from helping others in a similar circumstance, but rather embolden you to help others. We are making progress as more and more people learn that there is an alternative to the world’s way of dealing with cancer. Sincerely for a Healthy World, Rev. George Malkmus
