9 Ways To Boost Your Immune System

9 Ways To Boost Your Immune System

Have you ever noticed that the end of summer seems to be the start of cold and flu season? After all the fun of summer, getting a cold right after Labor Day can sure be a downer — especially for those who are on The Hallelujah Diet.

We often find Hallelujah Dieters who get colds are missing something.

Maybe it's too much cooked food, maybe not enough juice; either way, diet is indeed the best defense during flu season and you’ll do well to follow The Hallelujah Diet as right as you can, as often as you can. But when you’re working indoors breathing polluted air, battling long hours and stress, and eating on the go, your immune system takes a beating! So, in addition to staying extra vigilant with your diet, here are 9 ways to boost immune system health:

  1. Wash your hands. Many colds start when we infect ourselves by rubbing our eyes or nose with contaminated hands — especially during flu season.
  2. Breathe through your nose. The tiny hairs in your nasal passages filter the air; mouth breathing bypasses the filter.
  3. Stay hydrated. Dehydration impairs the immune system. Drink distilled or reverse osmosis water treated with our HydroBoost Kit - Alkaline Drops with Trace Minerals (or Kangen water if you have access to it), vegetable juices, and raw foods to boost immune system health. Avoid caffeine as it often has a mild diuretic effect.
  4. Take vitamin D. If you're indoors and missing the summer sun, you need vitamin D to protect your immune system. Take D3 to achieve blood levels of 50 to 80 ng/mL. There is 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 in each serving of B-Flax-D Fiber ground flaxseed supplement.
  5. Reduce sugar. Few substances are as harmful to the immune system as sugar, even too much natural sugar. Avoid sugary snacks and fruit juices.
  6. Eat fermented foods. Supporting your digestive system’s friendly flora with fermented foods and high-quality, professional strength Probiotic Supplements during the flu season helps your body work properly to boost immune system health.
  7. Reduce stress. During flu season or any time of year, stress weakens the immune system and impairs digestive function. Take a break, take a walk in the summer sun, just don’t get stressed out. (Vitamin D helps alleviate stress, too.)
  8. Get your beauty sleep. Six to eight hours of quality sleep allows for cellular repair and allows for immune system enhancing compounds to be released.
  9. Exercise. Exercise helps reduce stress (see #7), improve sleep (see #8), promote blood flow, and helps your body eliminate waste. Short on time? Try Fit 10 - Ten Minute Exercise Program.
