Christmas is right around the corner. It's the season to gather with family members and friends for the most wonderful time of the year. The usual holiday party might go against the primarily raw diet you follow, but it doesn't have to on your watch. Just make these raw recipes for your loved ones and enjoy the seasonal flavors without disobeying your healthy habits!

1. Almond Butter Balls
Our recipe makes a delicious and healthy breakfast treat for Christmas morning!


  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup crushed nuts or unsweetened coconut


In a large bowl, mix the almond butter, wheat germ and honey until it reaches a dough-like consistency. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls, and then roll in the crushed nuts or unsweetened coconut. Serve these treats fresh or let chill in the refrigerator or freezer.

2. Pat's Raw Broccoli Soup
Our recipe is sure to please the palate around the holidays.


  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1 cup raw almonds - soaked in distilled water overnight
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cups chopped raw broccoli
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Pour distilled water, drained almonds and honey in a food processor, blending until it reaches a creamy consistency. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Garnish with additional cayenne pepper and cashews if desired.

3. Winter Salad
For a sweet seasonal salad, try our recipe.


  • 3 cups romaine lettuce - sliced into bite-size pieces
  • 3 cups baby spinach
  • 1 cup pecans and/or walnuts - chopped coarsely
  • 1/4 cup organic raisins
  • 1 sweet apple - peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 pear – peeled, cored and diced


Just toss all of the ingredients together in a large bowl with your favorite raw dressing. Enjoy!

3. Mashed Potatoes with Sour Cream
This recipe from Wandling's book substitutes cauliflower for potatoes and will have you tricked into thinking it's the real deal.


  • 1 small head of cauliflower
  • 3/4 cup sunflower seeds - soaked in water for at least 6 hours
  • 1/4 cup pecans - soaked in water for at least 6 hours
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • Chopped chives for garnish


First, drain sunflower seeds and pecans. Set aside.

Place all ingredients beside the cauliflower in the food processor and blend until smooth. Gradually add chunks of cauliflower and mix until it reaches a creamy texture. Garnish with chopped chives.

4. Apple Raisin Coleslaw

  • 1/2 head cabbage - grated
  • 2-3 carrots - grated
  • 1 chopped apple
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon


Combine all ingredients and toss with your favorite raw dressing. Place in the refrigerator to set for at least 1 hour before serving.

5. Peppermint Candy
What's Christmas without a peppermint treat? Wandling's peppermint candy recipe is simple and satisfying.


  • 1 coconut
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoons peppermint extract
  • 3-4 tablespoons carob powder
  • 1 pinch of sea salt


First, chop the coconut in half and remove the meat from the dark outer skin. Place coconut in a food processor and gradually add the remaining ingredients, pulsing until the combination is well mixed. Scrape mixture out into a small pan, pressing until evenly distributed. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, remove and cut into small squared. Enjoy!
