It's hard to believe that 2018 is just days away. We hope 2017 was filled with new opportunities that created lifelong memories to cherish forever, but now it's time to look forward to a fresh slate that offers another chance to focus on love, health and happiness.

At the beginning of each year, many individuals set New Year's resolutions to accomplish personal goals or focus on ways they can improve their lives for the better. This year, why not use the Hallelujah Diet lifestyle as an inspiration for your resolution? There are plenty of simple adjustments you can make in your life to improve your health and overall well-being and promote longevity.

It took 21 days for those individuals to get used to their new facial features, and Marx felt the same reaction is similar to those attempting to form new habits. This means that you can't expect these New Year's resolutions to stick and be simple right away. It's going to take a full month for the new habit to form, so don't be too hard on yourself if you end up hitting a few bumps in the road.

With that said, don't get discouraged. Making lifestyle adjustments shows that you care about your health and longevity, and it's a huge step toward taking control of your life. If you don't have a goal set in stone yet, here are a few Hallelujah Diet-Inspired New Year's resolutions to consider:

1. Pray Each and Every Day
If you feel as though you haven't engaged with your faith in quite some time, make it a priority to pray every day, if not multiple times during the day. You can talk to God from the comfort of your home, during your break at work or while you're exercising at your local gym. If you want to start small, just commit to attending church service at least once a week. Take in the messages and reflect on them when you get home. Soon, this will become second nature, and you'll find yourself reaching out to God more than you expected.

2. Spend More Time With Family and Friends
It's easy to get caught up in a busy schedule, but it's important to maintain social relationships. This year, promise to spend more time and communicate with the ones you love. This can be through daily phone calls, weekly emails or bi-weekly get-togethers - whatever works best for you and those involved. If you already spend ample time with your friends and family, consider a new way to improve your social life. Log on to your Facebook or email account, and try reconnect with old friends you lost touch with years ago. Or head to your local church, community center or school, and see if there are any volunteer opportunities. This is a great way to get involved and give back to society - a perfect New Year's resolution, if you ask us.

3. Exercise Often
You've heard it a million times, but the repetition is vital: Regular physical activity is key to overall wellness. If you find yourself promising to exercise more at the beginning of every year, but neglect to make it happen, start by setting smaller goals. Don't promise to workout every day when you haven't been to the gym in months. Instead, head to the local fitness center at least twice a week, and go more often once it becomes a regular habit. If you're worried you'll get bored with a gym routine, sign up for a dance or exercise class instead. You'll be more committed to attending when an instructor is expecting you; plus it's an opportunity to make new friends and have fun!

4. Add More Variety to Your Diet
Whether you're already following the Hallelujah Diet or you're interested in starting the plant-based eating regimen, promise to add more nutritional variety to your meals. Take a look at the breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options you frequently prepare and ask yourself: Are these options full of color? Do I eat different fruits and vegetables every day? Am I treating myself to a sweet plant-based dessert often enough? They say variety is the spice of life, and we believe this holds true. Not only does adding more nutritious options to your diet mix things up, it also ensures you're getting a multitude of vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive.

It's important to start small and add more goals to your list only if you're not feeling overwhelmed.
